In today's video, we're going to talk about how to get them to stop the scroll, and pay attention to you, specifically from an Instagram standpoint.

Now, you got to keep in mind, when it comes to social media in general, there's a lot of noise going on. A lot of things are happening all at once. So, when we're talking about Instagram, what are people doing? Well they're looking at their phones and they're scrolling. They're moving right along. And, you have a short amount of time to grab that person's attention. So, I'm going to give you two ways that we have found that are effective in getting them to stop to scroll.

Number One. What cover photo are you using? Let's say, you've got a video and on Instagram they give you about a minute to post video, pick the most entertaining part of the video to use as the cover photo. Pick the part where it says, "Stop and look at me!". If you're doing a bicep curl, for instance in the video. Let's say your motion is, here to here, and your bicep looks the biggest in this position. Well hey, that's probably where you want to have the cover photo stop, because it looks the best. It's going to grab the most attention. Let's say, you're doing a video where you're focusing on ABS. Well, maybe the cover photo should be focused on a six pack. Something that's going to get that person to stop and look. Let's say, part of the video you're sharing your big smile and you have a big smile, you have a nice smile. That will be a good place to stop the cover, so a person would want to check it out.

The other part is the first line on the caption. Let me break that down a little bit. You only have a limited amount of time to get that person's attention and make them want to read more. So, how Instagram has it set up now, is when you're reading the caption, all you can see as the viewer right now is the first line. So, you want to make that first line, grab the person's attention. An example, let's say you have an educational post where you are teaching somebody how to properly take post workout protein. A first line would be, "I just want to show you how to do this right". Well, you weren't detailed enough to tell them exactly what you were talking about, which makes the person curious, but you also used an attention getter. Do this right! "Do what right?" is what the person is thinking as they're reading the caption. So, the first line should be something that grabs the attention. And again, it gets them to stop scrolling, and to spend a little bit more time reading your content.

So, here's a quick recap. The two ways that we found very effective to get people to stop scrolling and pay attention to you on Instagram specifically, is using an attention getting cover photo. And two, an attention grabbing first line of your caption.

And that'll do it for today's video. We'll see in the next video. If you like this video. Make sure you go ahead and hit that like button and subscribe to thefitnessboss.com channel.
